More than 440 Women Murdered in
Mexico
Since 1993 until today, more
than 440 women have been
murdered in the city of Juarez,
Mexican state of Chihuahua, said
Julia Monarrez, researcher of
the North Frontier College, on
Thursday.
The crimes, described by experts
as "systemic sexual women
murders" as the victims are
tortured, raped and mutilated
and usually abandoned in the
desert, have two
classifications.
The first one is organized gangs
that means a multiple assault
and the other carried out by
non-related men.
In the report on social-economic
and geo-referential system of
violence in the city of Juarez,
Dr. Monarrez detailed the
homicides happened and confirmed
that 112 of the 442 victims were
minors while 19 of them were
infants.
Similarly, she highlighted that
38 of the murders were committed
by men close to the victims, 41
of them by drug-traffickers, 36
without an apparent motive and
many others due to jealousy and
infidelities.
In the face of this situation,
Monarrez added, the next federal
administration has to think on
recommendations and implement
mechanisms of national
coordination in order to protect
women and stop violence.
