Panamanian Justice Denies Aleman
Discharge
Panamanian judicial authorities
denied on Saturday that
Nicaraguan ex President Arnoldo
Aleman had been acquitted of the
charges of money laundering
presented against him by the 2nd
Court of Justice.
Nicaraguan Supreme Court Justice
President Manuel Martinez
affirmed the ex-president´s
absolution was a firm ruling.
A communique cited by the Panama
America daily expressed the
arrest warrant was put off, not
being properly verified, because
notifying Byron Jerez, one of
Aleman´s finance officials, was
still pending.
The text also said the 2nd Court
of Justice established that it
only suspended the ex
president´s international
arrest, but clarified that the
trial for money laundering is
still in force.
