Over 1,600 Dengue Cases in
Panama
Over 1,600 cases of classic
dengue are been reported in
Panama this year, which fear to
be an epidemic, despite the
campaigns to eradicate mosquito
focuses.
According to sources from the
Health Ministry, about 510
people have been counted in the
metropolitan area and other 600
in San Miguelito neighborhood.
Real figures could be larger
because experts consider that
for each case there are
confirmed about 10 and 15
infected people.
According to official data,
nearly 25,000 Panamanians have
contracted the classic dengue
from 1993 up to now.
Workers from the Health Ministry
are fumigating the areas more
prone to the development of
mosquito focuses.
