Transparency in Venezuela´s
Electoral Process Guaranteed
The President of the National
Electoral Council (CNE) of
Venezuela, Tibisay Lucena, said
today the poll entity will
guarantee the transparency of
presidential elections on
December 3.
Lucena said to reporters that
the attacks of the opposition on
the CNE have been destroyed by
truth, after affirming that the
schedule is on time for the
polls.
For the President of the CNE,
this shows in Venezuela there is
an election process underway,
which -she said- functions
perfectly after repeating the
results will be transparent.
Lucena stressed that to that end
a platform was established which
also supports the free and
democratic right to vote by each
Venezuelan citizen.
Asked about a video screened by
the commando of the campaign of
opposition candidate Manuel
Rosales, where the minister of
Energy and Oil, Rafael Ramirez,
appears in a private assembly,
Lucena said that no denounce had
been presented to the CNE on the
issue.
In the video, Ramirez warns
managers of Petroleos de
Venezuela (PDVSA) he will not
allow actions of saboteurs in
that enterprise, words
considered by the opposition as
an action to favor the candidate
and current President Hugo
Chavez.
Chavez and vice president Jose
Vicente Rangel, defended
Ramirez´s position and bashed
the opposition for having
politicized PDVSA with a strike
carried out in 2002-2003 as part
of a conspiracy.
The rector of the CNE, Humberto
Castillo, reported the logistics
spread by the entity during the
trial run of the elections made
this Sunday showed everything
works fine.
For the trial run a total of 22
thousand staff were used,
including voting machine
operators and the so called
fingerprint detector, technical
support and rapid attention
centers, among others.
Another 60 thousand troops also
took part throughout the
national territory, attached to
the Unified Commando of the
National Armed Forces, CUFAN who
were in charge of distributing
and security of the equipment.
This trial run will help us
evaluate the logistics of voting
machine distribution, he said.
