Uruguay: Ibero-Am Summit Won
Poverty, hunger, health, illiteracy and insufficient medical assistance mark the agenda of the Ibero American heads of state and government to participate in the 16th summit next weekend.

In each of 15 prior meetings, the dignitaries defended development and the struggle against the main problems affecting the Latin American peoples but the dozens of assumed documents and commitments have shown few results.

Uruguayan Foreign Relations Minister, Reinaldo Gargano, assured that his country would work to prevent the Montevideo Summit from becoming a boring stage.

Issues like peace, solidarity, respect of international laws, consolidation of democracy and illiteracy will center the debates.

The Ibero American Conference of Nations as a forum of political coordination and consultancy is intended to reflect challenges of the international environment, cooperation and solidarity as stated in the constitutive documents.

Prior meetings to the summit will start on Wednesday with exchanges between national coordinators and cooperation officials expected to set the ground for the debates of foreign ministers and heads of state and government.
