Driver Plunges Into River and Lives to Tell the Story
Anyone driving or has driven in Costa Rican can tell it is an experience. Bad road conditions, poor signage and illumination, lack of guardrails and just plain bad and nasty drivers are what is daily faced on Costa Rica's roads.

Steve Calvo Rosales, an employee with Cable Tica, is one driver who can attest to the foregoing, when he landed in the middle of the Tiribi river on Thursday and miracolously surviving the incident.

The accident occured in San Francisco de Dos Ríos where it runs into San Antonio de Desamparados (southeast of San José) when, for reasons still unclear, his Honda Civic left the road and plunged off the bridge into the river below.

Calvo was able to get out the vehicle and get to the edge of the river and sat there waiting for help to arrive. Cruz Roja (Red Cross) personnel arrived quickly on the scene and made the hardous task of lifting Calvo to safety.

Tránsit (Traffic) officials are investigating the accident that did not involve any other vehicle. Poor road conditions, the fac the bridge has missing guard rails and the weather all contributed to the unusual accident.
