Guatemala to Host Summit of Parliaments
Speaker of the Central American Parliament, Julio Palacios, announced the holding of a summit of assemblies, congresses and senates from all the world in Guatemala on Jun 26.

In a press conference in Guatemala City, Palacio said this may be the most important political event in Central America and one of the most relevant at the international scene.

The objective of this parliamentary summit is to review progress made regarding the UN Millennium Goals on poverty reduction and discuss other steps to be taken for all citizens to be able to materialize this great initiative.

Speakers of European, African, Latin American, Andean and Central American parliaments, as well as top parliamentarians from a large number of regional countries have confirmed their attendance so far.
