Venezuela Marches on Imperialism
Venezuelans are celebrating
International Labor Day on
Monday with nationwide mass
marches rejecting imperialism.
Under the motto For the Right to
Life, nearly 1,450 unions of the
National Worker´s Federation and
Venezuela´s Unitary Workers
Central along with grassroots
organizations and the whole
population will parade on the
nation´s main cities.
Last week, President Hugo Chavez
announced a 30 percent pay raise
for teachers from May 1 and
another 10 percent from October
1, approved reforms in the
Organic Labor Law and sanctioned
the Labor Solvency.
Among today´s central demands
appear the strengthening of the
Bolivarian Revolution, the fight
against corruption and
bureaucracy plus the support of
the social finance office and
the popular power.
