First 100% Costa Rican Microchip
Three professors from the Costa Rican Institute of Technology (TEC) and a graduate student from the University of Costa Rica (UCR) developed in Germany the first microchip which is 100 percent Costa Rican.

According to the scientists, it has applications in industry, commerce, and bio-medicine.

"We are not doing weird things; we are developing high technology," said Paola Vega, 29, who developed smart labels as part of the microchip.

She added that the idea is to transfer that technology to Costa Rica.
