Higher Devaluation
The estimated devaluation in 2006 according to consultants, businessmen, academicians, and financers surpass the forecast made by the Central Bank earlier in the year.

In the first quarterly survey on the economic outlook published by the Central Bank, the respondents set the average devaluation for the year at 8.2 percent, with a lower limit at 7.6 percent and a higher limit at 8.7 percent.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank had set 6.6 percent as the devaluation goal for the year.

Since 2002, the rate of devaluation has slowed down, to a current 7.9 percent.

Regarding inflation, the survey found 12.4 percent as the average for the year, above the 11 percent that the Central Bank had set as the goal.
