Venezuela Denies Meddling in Mexico
Venezuela has again denied any interference in Mexico's internal affairs or in the campaign for July 2 elections, as claimed by Mexican rightwing forces.

In a press conference in Mexico City, Venezuelan Charge d´ Affaire Nestor Gonzalez described as these allegations as baseless, and pointed out they come from sectors of the governing Accion Nacional Party (PAN) and La Cronica daily.

He said parties and candidates were publicly urged to refrain from involving Venezuela in issues concerning only Mexicans.

Gonzalez said his country's Foreign Ministry is investigating the use of images of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in PAN electoral broadcasts that try to establish a connection between Chavez and opposition candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

On Thursday, Lopez Obrador himself denied any link with Chavez or his supporters.
