Cuban Heroes Supported in Spain
An exhibition by Spanish artist
Paco Bernal and a symposium on
the five Cuban anti-terrorist
fighters in US prisons is taking
place in the Valencian locality
of Elche.
Roberto Quereda, Secretary of
the Anti-Cuban Blockade Group
sponsoring the events, said they
were part of activities to open
the new Group´s headquarters
provided by the Communist Party
of Spain.
The Group is one of the oldest
institutions of solidarity with
Cuba. Quereda said Bernal´s
exhibition will be opened to the
public through Apr 1.
Rosa Bernal, a sister of Paco´s
who is also a painter, explained
how the artist, who has been
internationally renowned for his
art and his struggle against
Down´s Syndrome, has embraced
the cause of the five Cuban
heroes.
Paco has proclaimed himself a
brother rather than a friend of
Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon
Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Rene
Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez,
the five Cuban anti-terrorist
fighters unjustly held in US
prisons for their struggle
against Miami-based groups
operating against Cuba.
Ministry Counsellor of the Cuban
Embassy Alfredo Ruiz, Judge Joan
Marti, an expert in the issue,
and Rosa Bernal participated in
the symposium held after the
opening of the exhibition
attended by Cooperation
Councilwoman Maricarmen Bueno.
