Gasoline Hike Waiting Signature
Loosen your pocketbooks and get
ready for another round of
gasoline price hikes, the fifth
this year, as the Autoridad
Reguladora de los Servicios
Públicos (Aresep) technicians
are recommending the approval of
a request presented by the
Refinería Costarricense de
Petróleo (Recope).
There have been no price
increases for public services
for some time as the Aresep was
waiting the naming of a new
regulator.
Fernando Herrero was recently
appointed to the post and is now
ready to sign a series of
increases for various public
services, including gasoline
prices, that have been on hold
since May.
Once the approval is signed, the
price of gasoline will jump ¢30
colones for a litre of super and
regular and ¢36 colones for a
litre of diesel.
The new price will be ¢556
colones for a litre of super (up
from the current ¢526); regular
will cost ¢534 colones per litre,
up from the current ¢504; and, a
litre of diesel will jump to
¢380 colones from the current
¢344.
The signature is expected
sometime this week, which will
then have to be published in the
officials publication La Gaceta
within 5 days. The new prices at
the pump is expected for mid
next week.
