Americans Regret US Pushing
Nicaragua
The Solidarity Network with
Nicaragua in the US and other
organizations apologized to the
Nicaraguan people on Friday for
their country's interference in
the Nicaraguan election process.
"As US citizens, we apologize to
the Nicaraguan people for the
continuous interference of the
US government in your country's
election process", reads an Open
Letter released in this capital
on Friday.
The hundreds of signatories of
the note also denounce the
interference behaviour of the US
ambassador to Managua, Paul
Trivelli, and members of the US
diplomatic body.
The US must immediately stop
manipulating the Nicaraguan
election process through the
selective funding of
presidential candidates and
political parties, verbal
threats, and any other opened or
covered mean, adds the text.
The letter makes clear that
those actions have nothing to do
with the will of the US people,
and says that those types of
actions would be denounced at
stronger terms if any foreign
government tries to do the same
in a US election campaign.
