Police Will Be Keeping An Eye on
the Party!
More than 600 members of the
Fuerza Pública (police) and the
Policía de Tránsito (traffic
police) will be on the job this
morning while all other public
sector employees have the
morning off to watch "the game"
in the history of Costa Rican
soccer.
A large percentage of private
sector employees are expected to
call in sick this morning and if
they do show up for work, their
focus will be on the game.
All government offices and
agencies as well as state and
private banks are closed until
12:30pm.
The Fuerza Pública will be there
to ensure peace, while traffic
officials will be keeping an eye
on the road, especially for
drinking and driving and
speeding.
If Costa Rica were to
miracolously win or even tie,
Costa Rica will be having one
giant party and you can forget
about work for the rest of the
day. Early morning television
and radio broadcasts have been
asking viewers and listeners for
their opinion and input on game
results.
An overwhelming number are ready
for a Costa Rica loss, but are
keeping a positive attitude,
because one can never know.
Joining the Fuerza Pública and
traffic police is the Cruz Roja
(Red Cross) along with the
Policía Municipal de San José,
who are on full alert.
Authorities want to ensure to
avoid a major tragedy on this
historic day.
