Cuba Slams US Plots, Boosts Latin American Ties
Cuba´s rejection of an annexationist report approved by the US president, and the visit by the Ecuadorian foreign minister feature as the most transcendental events this week here.

The US document contains an annex with secret regulations for national security reasons and to guarantee its successful carrying out, as denounced by Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon in an editorial in Granma daily.

The report, elaborated by the so called Commission for Assistance to a Fee Cuba, headed by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, was approved by Washington last Thursday, and is a continuation of actions included in the first one written in 2004.

Alarcon recalled that on May 20, 2004, George W. Bush announced his plan to annex Cuba, an over 450-page freak, he said, that caused widespread criticism.

The text published now corroborates that project, hails the alleged achievements of its application and, under that solid ground, announces “additional measures” to speed up the end of the Cuban Revolution,” he stressed.

At a regular radio-TV broadcast, the parliamentary leader pointed out that, according to the US plan, Cuba would simply vanish, as the program threatens to exterminate the nation and its people.

With that goal, the White House tightens the economic blockade, increases financing and material support for internal counterrevolutionary groups, and develops an escalating propaganda and disinformation campaign.

On the other hand, the visit Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Francisco Carrion made to Cuba this week confirmed both countries´ willingness to strengthen mutual historic friendship, as well as Ecuador´s interest in increasing the Cuban collaboration in that country.

Ecuadorian President Alfredo Palacios´ visit to the island and the South American country attendance to the Non-aligned Summit next September in Havana was confirmed as well.
