Fines and Confiscation For
Drivers Who Have Not Paid the
2006 Marchamo
Haven't paid your 2006 Marchamo?
Well, you are one of the 120.000
who may have their licenses
plates confiscated by Tránsito
police as their two day grace
period ends.
Beginning today, the Policía de
Tránsito will be operating a
number of stop checks with the
some intention to stop those
vehicles who don't have their
Marchamo paid and will
confiscate plates on the spot,
leaving the driver to arrange
for the vehicle to be towed and
a walk home.
Police will also fine the driver
¢13.000 colones. Another ¢10.000
colones fine will be levied to
those who don't have their
Riteve, the annual vehicular
inspection, current. The Riteve
inspection is a requisite of the
Marchamo.
Juan Manuel Delgado, director of
the Transit police, said that
there a number of officers
assigned to the detail and that
the grace period of the last two
days is over.
If you are one of the 120.000,
you may decide come up with a
good excuse, but Delgado assures
that his officials have heard
them all before.
