Gas Price Hikes For 2006
Welcome to 2006. And get ready to open your wallet to higher gasoline prices as the Autoridad Reguladora de Servicios Públicos (ARESEP) welcomes the year with two requests for increases that could see gasoline prices jump ¢60 colones for super, ¢57 colones for regular and ¢47 colones for diesel.

The Refinadora Costarricense de Petroleo (RECOPE) has made the requests, in two parts, that will again soon see record gasoline prices.

Gasoline hit a high of ¢504 colones for a litre of super in the middle of 2005, slowing dropping to the current level of ¢422. The increases, when not if approved, will see gasoline get near that record and may pass it during 2006.
