Million for Wildlife
In order to ensure the
preservation of the flora and
fauna of Costa Rica, the
Government announced the
establishment of a biodiversity
trust.
The trust which will collect funds
to pay for environmental
services, meaning cash support
for the owners of forests to
preserve them and, therefore,
the benefits that they bring to
the environment.
The services
include diminishing gas
emissions, protecting water
sources for human use, and
preserving the natural scenic
view in order to properly
address the needs of tourism and
of science.
The trust is aimed
at attracting investors, both
public and private, domestic and
from abroad, for whom the
biodiversity is part of their
business or their social
responsibility policies.
