Inflation
Expected to Reach 13%
A group of experts who partook
in a study by the Banco Central
de Costa Rica (BCCR) - Central Bank
-
estimated that the overall
inflation for the year 2006 will
be close to13%, on average.
Their figures range
between 11.7% and 14.3%.
Meanwhile, the BCCR’s
goal is to lower the indicator
to 11% , from the 14.01% recorded at the end of
last year.
Costa Rican inflation
is the second highest in Latin
America, surpassed only by the
one in Venezuela, and most
analysts agree that the major
factor for the upward trend is
the price of oil.
