Ecuador Slams Sprays, Coca Lies
As if it weren´t enough to douse
it with toxic sprays, Ecuador is
currently the target of a
disinformation campaign by the
Colombian government, Defense
Minister Marcelo Delgado
affirmed on Wednesday.
In declarations to a national TV
channel, Delgado noted that
Bogota lied when it tried to
misinform the public over the
existence of 15 hectares of coca
leaf crops along the northern
border area and ruled out the
presence of Colombian
infiltrators in this nation.
He said that a team of national
reporters are moving to the
common border to verify the
untruths of Colombian police
chief Gen. Jorge Castro.
The minister also warned that to
present complaints there are
corresponding entities such as
the Border Bi-national
Committee.
Concerning the apparent presence
of leaders of Colombian groups
in Ecuador, Delgado pointed out
this kind of information takes
place just when Bogota is going
through a critical situation.
The official ratified the
national position to neither
involve the country in the
Colombia Plan nor participate in
actions or joint military
activities with its neighbor.
