Cuba Calls Arias "Vulgar Mercenary of the US"
The Cuban foreign ministry (MINREX) issued a declaration Wednesday condemning the recent statements by Costa Rica President Oscar Arias against the Island and its President Fidel Castro.

The text, which calls Arias a mercenary of the US government, denounces that with total disrespect and lack of ethics, the Costa Rican President compared the Cuban leader with late Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet.

The Cuban chancellery recalled that the US government has always had any opportunistic "clown" at hand ready to tag on to its aggressive plans against Cuba, and most of them are mean politicians who end up in the dump of history.

With the new winds blowing in the region, the text indicates, Washington was hard up to find its next figurehead.

But with unusual enthusiasm and submissive loyalty, the egomaniacal Arias gave himself up to the US empire, and the time will tell what he will receive in return, the MINREX noted.

The note recalled that on March 11, 2006, US President George W. Bush congratulated Arias for his presidential election. At the time, Bush told Arias "you can help me a lot in the course of the new Latin American panorama," the text pointed out.

"Mr. Oscar Arias is a vulgar mercenary of the US.

He shamelessly supports the US annexation plan against Cuba, disrespecting the heroic, altruistic struggle of the Cuban people for sovereignty," the declaration reads.

President Arias lacks the moral authority to criticize Cuba or anyone else.

Rather than paying attention to Cuba s affairs, he should take care of corruption in his country, the people s protests against the free trade area with the US, poverty affecting 23 percent of the population, insecurity,
