Gas Price Hike Approved
The Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios Públicos (ARESEP) last night approved a hike in gasoline prices in the amount of ¢12 colones per litre for both regular and super gasolines and aviation fuel.

The approval must first be published in the official government publication, La Gaceta, which five working days. The publication is expected not later than the middle of next week.

The price hike will mean that the price of a litre of super gasoline will jump from the current ¢504 to ¢516 and regular from ¢474 to ¢486.

The price hike was at the request of the Refinadora Costarricense de Petróleo (Recope), Costa Rica's state monopoly on petroleum products. Recope refines and distributes to retailers gasoline products in the country.
