Annual Telethon Kicks Off
Tonight
At 9:00pm tonight the annual "Teletón"
(telethon) kicks off at the
Palacio de los Deportes in
Heredia, with a goal to raise
¢300 million colones
(us$582.000), that will be used
to build a new building addition
to the Hospital Nacional de
Niños (Children's Hospital).
The telethon will offer
entertainment in exchange for
donations that will go directly
to construct a Centro de
Cuidados Críticos (critical care
unit) at the children's hospital
in downtown San José.
Expected to take part in the
telethon are national and
international artists and
celebrities.
Donations can be made by sending
a text message from a cellular
phone, calling the 900 line or a
direct deposit to an account at
the Banco Nacional.
To make a ¢2.000 donation using
a cellular phone, send a text
message to 20-32 or to 0-35 for
a ¢5.000 colones donation.
Donations can also be made by
calling 900-400-2000 for a
¢2.000 and 900-400-5000 for
¢5.000 donation.
Any amount can be donated by
making a direct deposit to the
Banco Nacional account
12345-2032-2 at any Banco
Nacional branch.
Other banks also have an account
for depositing donations to the
telethon, simply visit your bank
branch and ask the teller to
deposit your donation into the
special account.
