Another Guatemalan Politician
Assassinated
Dr. Hugo Monterroso Chacon, UD
(Democratic Union Party) finance
secretary, was murdered
Wednesday by three persons
unknown in Casa Arianna in
Guatemala City, and police and
public prosecutors are
investigating.
Several political party
officials, among them UNE Deputy
Mario Pivaral (National Union
for Hope) and Rodolfo Vielmann,
from the Patriot Party, have
been murdered this year.
During the FRG government
(Guatemalan Republican Front),
Monterroso worked as chief of
the Traffic Department, and
later he worked for the Maycom
corporation.
UD leader Manuel Conde Orellana
has demanded that the Interior
Minister make a thorough
investigation to clear up the
murder.
