Four Salvadorians HIV Positive a
Day
Four Salvadorian people are
everyday infected with Acquired
Immunodeficiency Syndrome AIDS,
according to Salvadorian
official sources during a
journey dedicated to the
situation generated here by the
disease.
One of the Directors of Health
Sector Guillermo Galvan,
responsible of the fight against
HIV AIDS, specified that this
tendency decreased comparing it
to the one of 2005.
In that year, it was registered
an average of at least six
people infected each day and 352
dead people because of the
disease expansion.
It is estimated this figure to
decrease in 2006, due to the
fact to date 244 dead people
have been reported.
This disease was discovered in
El Salvador in 1984 and since
that time officially it has been
reported 17,500 cases.
Of these number, 9,912 are HIV
positive and 7,628 have the
disease in process of
development.
