Better Stock Up Today!
Due
to the municipal elections to be
held on Sunday, 3 December, all
liquor and beer sales will be
suspended as of midnight tonight
(Friday) and until midnight
Monday.
What that means is that
restaurants will not be able to
sell beer, wine or spirits with
meals as of midnight tonight.
All Bars, cantinas and drinking
holes will be closed down. Those
businesses that offer more than
alcoholic drinks will be
permitted open but will have
their liquor cabinets "sealed"
my members of the Fuerza Pública
(police) and Municipal police
which will be out in full force
tonight to close down bars and
establishments that continue
operating after midnight.
Supermarkers, pulperias (neighbourhood
stores) and department stores
will have to section off all
liquor, wine and beer areas.
In effect, the country goes
"dry" as of midnight under and
old and archaic law that has
seen discussion on changes but
legislators seem slow to move
on.
The law affects all national
elections that occur every four
years and includes the Easter
holiday period of Good Thursday
and Good Friday each year.
If you must, stock up today,
before it is too late. And for
the love of life, please, do not
drink and drive!
