Venezuela Probes Arms, Money Smuggling
Venezuela launched a probe on US attempts to smuggle fuses and detonators, among other military supplies, with diplomatic immunity.

Venezuela detected on August 23 twenty packages of personal effects belonging to a US diplomat which exceeded in 16 officially arranged exception.

Interior and Justice Minister Jesse Chacon said another box deviated to the US embassy with missiles for Bronco aircraft requested by the National Air Force.

Presidential Advisor, Rear Admiral Luis Cabrera Aguirre, and Parliament Chairman Cilia Flores warned of maneuvers to subvert Venezuela and invalidate its candidacy to the UN Security Council.

The incident led to a probe by the Justice and Defense Ministries, the later on AF supplies, adds to investigations on funds supplied to the opposition, namely Sumate.
