Sandinistas Door-knocking for
Unity
The Nicaraguan electoral
campaign begins Friday in
Managua with an act attended by
national and international
personalities.
Among those invited to the
cultural-political activity are
members of the diplomatic corps
accredited to this capital,
representatives of the State,
National Police, Army, legal
representatives of the parties
participating in the elections
and international delegations.
On November 5 and among five
possible candidates, Nicaraguans
should elect the new president,
vice president and 90 deputies
of the National Assembly.
To date, polls show the
Sandinista National Liberation
Front favorite with a 30 percent
support.
However, to win the presidency
the presidential runner needs a
minimum 35 percent of valid
votes and a 5-point lead over
his closest rival.
The Sandinista party announced
it will launch from August 19,
when the electoral race
officially takes off, a house to
house promotion campaign to
proclaim reconciliation and love
throughout Nicaragua.
