Amba Research launched
operations
At the Eurocenter Diursa in
Barreal, Heredia, International
firm Amba Research started
operations in Costa Rica in late
July. The company is
dedicated to outsourcing in
financial research. It develops
financial models and analyses of
companies and sectors.
With a starting investment of
us$1 million and 20 analysts, it
is planned to expand it to 130
analysts by late next year,
according to one of Amba’s
founders and directors, Andrew
Houston.
Costa Rica was chosen because of
its geographical location near
the leading finance centers in
the United States and because
there is not much of a time
difference with New York,
Chicago, or Los Angeles, as
compared to India, for example.
Houston pointed out that they
were looking for the right mix
of smart people and proper
costs, and that Costa Rica met
the requirements.
Amba Research also has
operations in India, Singapore,
Sri Lanka and the United States,
and its payroll includes over
3,000 people.
