Orosi Once Again On Mudslide Alert
Once again the residents of Jucó de Orosi, east of Cartago, are on maximum alert for mudslides caused by the heavy rains of the last week.

The Comite Nacional de Emergencia (CNE) responded to the alert immediately, dispatching heavy machinery to the area to bring peace of mind to the residents than include the areas of Quebrada Granados and La Anita.

The heavy downpours of last weekend softened the earth around a large part upper part of the mountain. Fears are that the water laden earth will slide down to the river below and displace everything in its path.

The Orosi area is one of the hardest hit by the inclement weather and resident are keenly waiting the construction of a new bridge that would connect the community with Río Macho.

The residents of the area constructed an audible alarm system during the last several years and so far has been working to save lives in the face of the natural disaster, allowing residents to evacuate the area quickly and in time, avoiding injuries and fatalities.

Tourist operators added that the Orosi tourist attractions are not affected and are operating normally without any foreseen danger to visitors.
