Quality Coffee
At some us$2.50 a pound in small
amounts of very high quality
coffee, Costa Rican growers have
found the key to obtain benefits
in exchange for their efforts
and overcoming the ups and downs
of the regular market.
Currently, close to half of the
overall coffee exports are under
the condition of "high quality",
which commands much higher
prices than those at the
reference market for the region,
New York Stock Exchange, mainly.
According to analysts, a little
over 70 percent of Costa Rican
coffee qualifies now for the
gourmet market.
