Couple Would Invite Children To Watch Them Have Sex
A couple was detained by authorities in San Carlos de la Fortuna for "inviting" minors to their small apartment to watch them have sex, telling authorities it was their way of teaching the youngsters to "learn" so that they would not have "problems" when they were adults.

The couple, according to police, were area school teachers who are an example of the "twisted" thinking and are being kept behind bars while the Ministerio Público makes a court plea for preventive detention.

Only the last names were released to the press. The man was identified as Cortés and the woman Cepeda. Both were arrested by San Carlos Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) officials Saturday as part of an investigation into complaints of sexual abuse against five minors.

Authorities say that the couple, who have lived together for a couple of months, abused five children between the ages of six and thirteen.

The complaint came from the parents of two girls, agend 9 and 10, and the parents of the youngest boy, who is 6 years old.

The man, who is 22 years old and the woman, 18, both Costa Rican, would get naked and have intercourse in front of the children. Authorities say that they would also feel up the children, among other sexual acts.

The abuse as discovered on the Thursday before the arrest when Cepeda, under the influence of alcohol, admitted to the acts to a neighbour who had been curious of what she suspected was going on. The neighbour called the children's parents to tell them what she had just confirmed, who in turn talked to their children, who confirmed that it was all true.

The parents immediately went to the local office of the Fiscal, Gustavo Rojas, who acted quickly in issuing an order to search the apartment of the couple.

Cortés, originally from Cariari de Pococí, moved to San Carlos six months ago and was employed as a security guard at an "important" company in the area. Cepeda is a local resident of San Carlos and the barrio San Antonio where the abuses occurred.
