Vietnam in Panama to Build Trade
Vietnam on Tuesday announced its intention to open a commercial office in Panama to boost business in Central America and the Caribbean.

Hanoi informed that it will expand its presence in the region, during a visit by Nguyen Van Binh, deputy director general of the Americas Department at the Vietnamese Foreign Trade Ministry.

Van Binh, who is accompanied by Vietnamese Ambassador to Panama Nghiem Xuan Luong, met with the general director for Foreign Policy, Dario Chiru, and the head of the Asia-Pacific Department, at the Panamanian Foreign Ministry.

He also met with representatives of Panama´s Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture and will visit the Duty Free Zone of Colon this week.

Panama and Vietnam established diplomatic relations on August 28, 1975, and have signed agreements on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, official, consular and special passports.

 The two countries are negotiating cooperation agreements in the fields of science, technology, culture, education, economy and trade.
