Canadian With Cocaine in Stomach
A nervous behaviour alerted the
Policía de Control de Drogas (PCD)
of the Ministerio de Seguridad
Pública to suspect that the 24
year old Canadian boarding a
charter flight to Toronto was
carrying more than dirty laundry
back home.
The detention occurred at the
Aeropuerto Internacional “Daniel
Oduber” in Liberia, Guanacaste,
when it was found that the man,
accompanied by a Eastern
European woman, was carrying
some 60 ovules, weighing 558
grams, filled with cocaine in
his stomach.
Both visitors to Costa Rica
landed as tourists on April 3,
according to immigration
records. The man was taken to
the Enrique Baltodano de Liberia
while police waited for the
expulsion of the ovules.
The man is now in police custody
and will be on an extended
vacation in Costa Rica, courtesy
of the Ministerio Público.
