Ticos Grow Old
While the birthrate and the rate of mortality continue falling, while life expectancy keeps on increasing, analysts question whether Costa Rica is ready to stand a marked reduction in the number of young people and the consequences it would have on labor, pensions, and so forth.

According to the most recent data, the number of births was 700 lower in 2005 than in 2004 and while currently women have two children, as an average, that figure will be 1.79 by the year 2015.
