Highest Pacific Tide of the
Year Tomorrow
At 3:59am Tuesday morning, the
Pacific coast of Costa Rica will
experience the highest tide of
the year, reaching 3.19 metres
(10.47 feet). The normal tide
level is 2.18 metres (7.12
feet).
The high tide occurs when the
Earth, the Sun and the Moon
align themselves to produce the
greatest gravitaional pull.
According to oceanographer, Omar
Lizano, when this occurs it is
important to exercise extreme
caution in the ocean, mainly
because water levers are much
higher before and after the
phenomenum.
Lizano added that the high waves
won't be a problem for coastal
resorts unless there is a strong
wind.
The phenomenum occurs regularly
and is not cause to worry,
though flood warnings go out to
area where there is propensity
for flooding, like Quepos,
Parrita, Isla Damas, Tárcoles,
Jacó and San Isidro de
Puntarenas.
