Quake hits northwest Colombia,
no casualties reported
An earthquake measuring 5.2 on
the Richter scale struck
northwest Colombia Sunday
afternoon and no casualties have
been reported.
According to the Colombian
national Web of earthquake
information, the quake struck at
5:07 p.m. local time (20:07 GMT)
and was centered 112 km beneath
the earth surface in the suburb
of Sipi in northwest province of
Choco. The quake was felt in
some parts of the country,
including capital Bagota.
Rescue organization in Colombia
has released no information of
casualties and property loss,
but according to local media, a
house collapsed in Pijao in
Tolima Province in the
earthquake.
Another quake with a magnitude
2.9 hit Bogota on Oct. 1, which
caused no deaths. Eight days ago
a magnitude 7.5 earthquake in
neighboring Peru shook Bogota
and some other parts of
Colombia, with no report of
death and property loss on the
Colombian side.
