Josebeth's Killer Still Free
It's been three months since the discovery of little Josebeth Retana's body was found in a sack hidden on the banks of the river in Ticari de Orquetas de Sarapiquí. No arrests have yet been made and police are not closer to finding the culprit.

Tuesday, the parents of eight year old Josebeth visited the offices of the Fiscalía (prosecutor) in Sarapiquí to collect some belongings of the little girl and hoping they would learn some news of the investigation.

To make matters worse, the family later learned that clothing did not belong to their daughter and raised doubts that investigators are taking the case seriously and looking at the right evidence.

Alexander Salamanca, a neighbour and friend of the family, is the prime suspect in the murder and following several interviews, evidence that he maintained some type of relationship with the little girl, police have yet to make an arrest.

Josebeth Retana had been missing for 7 days and family and friends had not given up hope, combing the area where she was last seen alive, in hopes of clues and finding the girl alive.  She was found when a young man came across a large sack that had been badly tied and was attempted to be hidden from view under brush by the river.
