Pineapple Prices Crash
The prices of pineapple to the producer crashed from us$0.40 per kilo (2.2 pounds) to us$0.15 in just one month.

Excess production, the rerouting of cargo ships because of hurricanes, and extended rainy spells in northern Costa Rica are quoted as the leading causes.

According to agricultural engineer Alexis Quesada, from the Ministry of Agriculture, the price is likely to recover to around us$0.33 by December, but that not likely to return to us$0.40.
