Large Trade Deficit
The first 10 months this year, the cumulate trade deficit reached us $2.1 billion, the largest such amount in the last 10 years.

However, income from tourism, services, and the arrival of capital enabled Costa Rica to handle the difference with ease.

The trade deficit results from the difference in dollars between what the country pays for imports and what it gets from exports.
