Violence Kills 30 Mexican
Women Daily
An average 30 Mexican women die
each day from violence, most of
them accidentally or without
premeditation, revealed the
National Institute of
Statistics, Geography and
Computing on Friday.
Eighty percent of these deaths
happen to girls 15 or older, and
42 in 100 are between 15 and 49,
revealed the institution on the
occasion of International Day of
Non-violence against Women.
In the case of homicides, 44 in
100 are committed against women
between 15 and 34 years, while
50 in 100 suicides are by women
between 15 and 29 years old.
According to the national
institution, 47 in 100 girls 15
or older, living with a partner,
suffer emotional, economic,
physical or sexual violence.
More than half (55 in 100),
suffer some kind of violence.
Young women are the most
physically assaulted, while
those between 40 and 44 are the
most common victims of sexual
aggression.
The report relates domestic
violence suffered by women with
aggression against their
children as a direct
consequence.
Violence against women does not
discriminate geographically,
culturally, economically or by
age. It happens at work and on
the streets, but the most common
is the home.
