Less Satisfaction with Democracy
Even though they support
democracy, only 39% of Costa
Ricans are satisfied with the
performance of the political
system, according to a survey.
This contrasts with the figures
for the year 2002, when 75% of the respondents
stated satisfaction. However, 73% assert that they prefer
democracy to any other form of
government.
According to
analysts, the degree of
dissatisfaction agrees with
strong disapproval for the
Pacheco Administration. They add
that the state of economy also
influences the degree of
satisfaction and that,
currently, only 20% of Ticos feel that the nation
is on a true course, therefore
the balance accounts for the
extended pessimism mirrored in
the survey.
