Winchester Students Going to Costa
Rica
Twenty-one Winchester, Virginia, students will explore the lush
tropical environment of Costa Rica during a 10-day cultural trip this
summer.
The Winchester School Board
Instructional Committee listened to an update on the Costa Rica trip,
sponsored by the Spanish department at Daniel Morgan Middle School,
during its meeting on Friday.
The trip is from June 11 to
June 20. Four chaperones, including teacher Jose Chan, will accompany
the students, all from Daniel Morgan.
Students will stay with
Costa Rican families and speak Spanish while touring the country.
The students were selected
to attend based on written applications.
They were asked about their
expectations for the trip, how they would handle a situation where they
could only speak Spanish, and how would they benefit from the
experience.
Committee members praised
Chan for the smooth organization of the trip.
