Colombia extradites five more
drug traffickers to US
The Colombian government said
Wednesday that it has extradited
five Colombians to the United
States as they were charged with
involvement in drug-trafficking
in that country.
The five people were captured by
Colombian police in 2004, the
government said.
Earlier, the Colombian
government had already sent drug
pushers Jairo Aparicio Lenis,
head of the Norte del Valle
cartel operating in southwest
Colombia, and Rodolfo Antonio
Abello Lazcano, leader of the
Costa cartel operating in the
Colombian Caribbean region, to
the United States.
After President Alvaro Uribe
took office in August 2002, 320
Colombians have been extradited,
mostly to the United States due
to crimes related to
drug-trafficking and money
laundering.
