Zurqui Tunnel To Be Closed
Tomorrow For Repairs
Heading for Guápiles tomorrow?
Better change plans as the
Conavi announces the resurfacing
of the main road that connects
San José to Guápiles and east to
Siquirres and Limón.
The work will be in the Zurqui
tunnel and there is now way to
detour traffic around the
tunnel.
Authorities recommend using the
road that leads to Limón by way
of Turrialba or Varablanca from
Heredia.
The Policía de Tránsito will be
advising drivers of the closing
at the toll booth at Río Frío.

The Consejo Nacional de Vialidad
(Conavi) began work on the
Braulio Carrillo highway two
weeks ago and tomorrow work will
continue, resurfacing the
roadwayd on the 680 metre
tunnel.
Conavi says the cost or
resurfacing sections of the
Braulio Carrillo will cost ¢80
million colones (us$168.000) and
is being paid from gasoline tax
revenues.
