Poll Shows FSLN Would Win Nicaraguan Elections
A poll by M and R Associates in Nicaragua reveals that the National Sandinista Liberation Front (FSLN) would win general elections if they were held this month.

Support to FSLN measured up to 31.9 percent of people questioned.

The second most popular political force was the Liberal Constitutionalist Party (PLC) with 26.6 percent, Government Alliance for the Republic (APRE) received 4.4 percent, and the Conservative Party 2.9 percent.

According to the poll, 39.9 percent are undecided as to which political party they will support.

According to specialists, FSLN leader Daniel Ortega would win the elections, as although he is not first preference, he would become President if his party did win.

In the two last national elections, PLC won victory, in 1996 with Arnoldo Aleman, now in prison for corruption, and in 2001, with current President Enrique Bolaños.
