Cuba Promotes Travel for the
Aged
Cuban tourism authorities
offered to promote travel for
third-aged people to Cuba, which
experts considered very
praiseworthy.
Sources of the Cubanacan tourist
group, one of the largest in the
country, said their offer was
based on creative sport
activities to meet the needs of
people of that age.
According to the Caribbean News
Digital bulletin, the proposal
includes visits to sites of
historic and cultural interest.
Travel packages may last up to
two weeks in attractive cities
such as Havana and central
Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Santa
Clara and Matanzas, chiefly
Varadero, the most important
local tourist resort.
Nearly two million tourists
travel to Cuba per year,
attracted by local nature, water
sports and cultural-historic
recreation.
Cubanacan, which possesses hotel
and other related services
across the Caribbean island, was
founded in August 5, 1987 to
foster and commercialize tourism
to Cuba.
It also operates through joint
ventures with Spanish Melia,
Tryp, NH Hotels and Iberostar
firms, among others.
