Man Shoots Dead His Girlfriend Following Break Up
A broken love affair is the principal cause in another murder, this time in the northern town of Liberia, where a man after failing to commit suicide by poisoning himself, decided to take his fire arm and shoot dead his 22 year old girlfriend and her 15 year old sister.

The tragedy unfolded in mid afternoon yesterday in the area known as La Gallera de Liberia in the house that Annie María Valverde lived with her two daughters from her first marriage. aged five and two.

Annie was divorced and lived with the man for the past several months when the separated last month, according to vice minister de Seguridad Pública, Ana Helena Chacón.

"The man was leaving hospital after a failed suicide attempt and was very depressed about the break up with the girlfriend", commented Chacón.

The man identified only by his last name, Castro, working as a photographer, shot his former girlfriend several times, the bullets hitting her head, chest and abdomen, leaving her in a pool of blood.

The man then went next door where the woman's sister lived, and according to police reports, he didn't think or hesitate to shoot the 15 year old girl twice in the chest.

The man took his girlfriend's two year old daughter with him. Police were notified that the little girl was safe and healthy in the hands of the man's mother. The man then fled in the mountains of the area.
