Protests continue in Bolivia
Protests in Bolivia continued on Saturday as demonstrators erected roadblocks on highways to La Pazand El Alto, said reports from La Paz, the administrative capital of Bolivia.

They have been protesting for three weeks at a governmental decision to hold Constitutional Assembly elections and a referendum on departmental autonomy on Oct. 17.

The decision is considered as unconstitutional as it is a matter for Congress to tackle with.

Trade unions and grassroots organizations insist on the nationalization of oil and gas sectors without indemnification and an amendment to the Hydrocarbon Resources Law issued on May 17.

A sign of worsening political crisis, Economic Development Minister Walter Kreidler made himself the second minister to resign within a week following the resignation of Education Minister Soledad Quiroga, who said he had differences with Bolivian President Carlos Mesa over Constitutional Assembly elections.
